Close contact location on Tuesday 10 August

  • Subsdance 27-29 Eyre Street Kingston, ACT, 2604 Australia (map)

ACT Health advised that Subsdance studio was an exposure site on Tuesday 10 August from 6:00pm-8:00pm. For our Subsdance Family and Team, this news probably felt like a bit of shock, and no doubt caused some worry. The Pandemic suddenly felt even closer to home. But as always, this too, is something that we WILL get through.
The most important thing we can do as a Subsdance community is keep each other and our wider Ken Behrens safe! Let’s do the right thing, follow ACT Health directives and get tested/quarantine where we need to.

What do I do if I was in the studio on 10 August between 6:00-8:00pm?

If you were at the studio at the dates and times specified, you must:

If I was at the studio on Wednesday 11 August, am I a secondary contact?

You are only considered a secondary contact if:

  • You live in the same home as a close contact of a person with COVID-19 (this is a household contact).

  • Have visited the home of a close contact of a person with COVID-19

  • Have been visited in their home by a close contact of a person with COVID-19

  • Have shared a confined space (such as a car) with a friend who is a close contact of a person with COVID

Please see further information on types of contacts:
https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/stay-safe-and-healthy/quarantine-and-isolation/types-of-contacts

As always, keep up-to-date about the latest developments via ACT Health (www.covid19.act.gov.au).

What can I do as part of the wider Subsdance community?

These are genuinely worrying and uncertain times for us all. At the heart of this situation and announcement is a community of humans who are striving to do the right thing. It is easy to feel helpless, so here is what YOU can do:

  • If you were at the studio on Tuesday, please quarantine and get tested.

  • We will be organising a food drive, gift packs and positive messages for all students and teachers affected by the “Subsdance Quarantine”. Peep our social media pages for more information, but if you would like to help, please email us! A GoFundMe will be set up, if any of those affected are unable to work/earn because of this quarantine.

  • The person who tested positive is slowly on the mend, but as you can imagine, it has been an overwhelming time! If you would like to send them a message of encouragement/pet pictures/funny memes, please send to us and we will forward on your good vibes!

  • Remember; we are in the midst of a global pandemic, and COVID-19 is the only thing we can blame. Despite doing all the right things and passing every COVID assessment with flying colours, this is something that can happen to any business. Be kind to the people involved. Not just with Subsdance, but to everyone who is fighting this.

  • We are so grateful for your ongoing support and to all the loving people who have reached out! Online classes are coming soon and your continued patience is much appreciated.

Reach out for support

Under these circumstances, it’s normal to feel anxious, overwhelmed, confused and sad. It is so important to give your Mental Health the same care as your Physical health.

For those who need extra support, reach out to a friend, your Subsdance community or a mental health support service, such as Beyond Blue (coronavirus.beyondblue.org.au). For immediate support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467.

Next steps

I believe because of our comprehensive tracing procedures, timeline of the positive case’s exposure, and everyone doing the right thing, this situation is something that will be contained with as little impact, as possible. It is important to stay calm and kind.

Has this made me, as a business owner feel a little worried for my business? Heck yeah! I’m only human! But, there is something so much more important to consider; keeping EVERYONE safe. Please, I implore you to do the right thing, get tested and stay home.

Our number one priority is the health of our students and teachers. We will follow health and Government advice and do what is necessary to ensure your safety. We will keep you up to date with the steps Subsdance is taking. For up-to-date information, please follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Our community is powerful, kind and oh so loving. We have survived Bushfires, the initial Lockdowns and now this, by looking out for each other.

Online classes will be coming soon and when the time is right, we will be back bigger and stronger than ever!

Thank you for your support during this time. It truly means the world.

Hold tight, we will get through this. Stay safe and big love,
Charlie, Director of Subsdance
