Term 1 of 2025 signals the next chapter of Subsdance Dance Studio.

Charlie, our current director since 2018, is officially stepping down and handing the reigns over to our new directors, Pascal and Lola. With this handover comes a lot of new changes, new information, and maybe even some new challenges, but we know that at the heart of Subsdance is a community built on kindness, strength & tenacity, and we can’t wait to see what 2025 brings for us all.

The Handover

As of January 1st 2025, Charlie will be stepping down as Director of Subsdance Dance Studio, and our current studio managers Pascal and Lola will be taking over Sunlight and Moonlight studios, respectively. Currently, Sunlight and Moonlight serve as 2 locations of the one business, Subsdance. With this handover, Sunlight and Moonlight will both be branching off as their own businesses, each running independently and separately from each other.

The legacy and the community of Subsdance run deep, and it is not a history that either Sunlight or Moonlight could or even want to shy away from. While they will be operating separately, the studios will remain sister studios. We are yet to figure our what this looks like for us and for you, but we are planning for things like joint showcases and discounts at each other’s studios. We are working to make arrangements like discounts or deals as accessible as possible, both for you financially but also for us from an administrative perspective. We promise we’ll keep you up to date and you’ll get the info as soon as we have it all figured out.

As Sunlight and Moonlight are branching off as separate businesses, this means some of our systems are also separating. Each studio will have its own MindBody page for bookings, payment systems, fees, and timetables. Don’t worry, we are working as hard as we can to make sure this transition is as easy for you as possible, and while things may seem a little different at first, it’ll start flowing in no time.

Charlie stepping back

The next biggest change in 2025 is that Charlie won’t be around in quite the same way anymore. Currently, they teach full time classes and coach a top team. In the new year, while they will be back for workshops occasionally, they are not on the timetable or coaching. It’s a bittersweet moment, as while we are sad to see them stepping back from the studio, we are thrilled to see what the future holds for us.

Another way that Charlie is stepping back from the studio is from an administrative perspective. They will no longer be the main contact for studio matters, and Pascal and Lola are taking over this role for their respective studios. We know it’s a bit of a change, but we ask that you respect Charlie’s space and time over this transition period. 2025 for sunlight

Sunlight has an exciting events calendar planned, including Sunlight Dance Festival in the Easter season, as well as top team auditions for The Queenz, SADA, and a brand new top team yet to be announced.

2025 for Moonlight

While we’re sad to be saying goodbye to Charlie, we are thrilled to be welcoming 3 new instructors to the timetable with 5 new classes. Moonlight is also stacked with monthly events like Burlesque Brunches, Life Drawing events, Crafternoons, and events with an array of talented Canberra performers & artists.

FAQ

When will the new timetables drop?
They’ll both be released after Christmas.

Do I have to get a new MindBody account?
No, you definitely don’t! You can use your existing MindBody account to sign into classes at each respective studio, just the same as you normally have for Subsdance. The only difference is that each studio will have it’s own page, so you’ll just need to look up Sunlight and Moonlight depending on your classes.

What if I have passes on my account that I’ve purchased in term 4? Do they carry over into 2025?
DANCE PASSES - As always, our dance passes are only valid for one term. Even if you’ve purchased yours towards the end of term, you’ll still need to use them up as they do not carry over across terms.

FITNESS PASSES - If you purchased a 10 or 24 fitness (Zumba) class pass towards the end of the term, it may still be valid in the new year depending on the purchase date. We will be honouring the majority of these passes, however if you do have any concerns about the expiry date of your pass please feel free to reach out to us at info@subsdance.com.au.

What is Charlie doing next?
Charlie is about as easy to contain as a handful of water, so we can’t tell you exactly what they have planned next. We do know for sure that it will involve spending as much time as physically possible with Luna, their golden child, and Jem, the King to our King.
