Led by our esteemed Moonlight Queen, Lola Lust, this immersive experience will empower you to create a mesmerizing solo act from inception to spotlight. We are also lucky to be joined this term by renowned burlesque performers Empress Eyrie and Viridian Mint, who will be sharing their tips, tricks, and experience with us over the term in some one-off workshops & classes.

TERM 2 COURSE ITINERARY

starting may 3rd

Week 1 - Introduction & Conceptualization

  • Welcome & Orientation

  • Introduction to the course structure and objectives

  • Brainstorming session for solo act concepts

Week 2 - Choreography Basics  

  • Fundamentals of movement and choreography

  • Structuring and plotting the act

  • Individual and group exploration of movement styles

  • Initial choreographic exercises with Lola Lust

 Week 3 - Character Development

  •  Exploration of character archetypes and personas

  • Techniques for embodying characters authentically through body language, facial expression etc.

  • Character development workshop with Lola Lust

 

Week 4 - Costume Design & Tech Basics

  •  Introduction to costume design and selection

  • Basics of stage lighting, sound, and music selection

  • Tech rehearsal planning and preparation with Lola Lust

  • Basic producer needs e.g. music, lighting info, bios

 

Week 5 - Guest Instructor: Empress Eyrie

  • Photoshoot with Empress Eyrie for promotional materials

Week 6 - Performance and Engagement Techniques

  •  Audience interaction methods

  • Stagecraft techniques, including precise stage blocking, spatial awareness, and effective utilization of props.

Week 7 - Guest Instructor: Empress Eyrie

  •  Techniques for cultivating stage presence and charisma

  • Exercises for confidence building and audience engagement

  • Performance tips and tricks from Empress Eyrie

Week 8 - Refinement & Feedback

  • Review of progress on solo acts

  • Peer feedback and constructive critique session

  • Refinement of choreography, character, and costume with Lola Lust

 

Week 9 - Guest Instructor: Viridian Minty

  • Strategies for handling unexpected mishaps during performances

  • Resilience training and improvisation techniques

 

Week 10 - Dress Rehearsal

  • Final run-through of solo acts

  • Costume and makeup rehearsal

  • Fine-tuning of performances with feedback from instructors

  • Show biz etiquette

  • Performance showcase of solo acts developed throughout the course
